Sean Bonnington, Executive Search

Sean’s career in the charity sector has now spanned five decades. During that time, he has held roles from Community Fundraiser through Head of Major Gifts to Director of Fundraising.

His most recent position was Director of Fundraising at the Army Benevolent Fund, a position he held for over 11 years.

Sean has considerable and wide-ranging experience in fundraising at both the operational and strategic level. In recent years he has worked extensively in the field of major gifts, particularly in the education, medical and military sectors, and has significant expertise in the recruitment and interviewing of staff at all levels.

Outside his working life, he has always been an active volunteer, serving as a Trustee for a number of charities and taking an active role in both governance and fundraising as a volunteer. As Past Master of one of the ancient Livery Companies in the City of London, he brings specialist knowledge of both the practices and governance of a particularly esoteric area.

Currently, Sean is Chair of the Broderers’ Charity Trust and a special advisor to the Parliamentary Advisory Committee on Transport Safety.

Sean is married to Becky and their home is in the shadow of the Shard, close to London Bridge. They are enthusiastic concert goers, with a particular interest in the Russian repertoire and are regular supporters of the contemporary dance programme at Sadler’s Wells.
